ShopDreamUp AI ArtDreamUp
Deviation Actions
For those of you blissfully unaware, PayPoster is a site that initially appears to be a shop selling prints, not unlike RedBubble and other print on demand companies commonly used by artists to earn money for their work.
Further inspection reveals many images are yanked straight from DeviantArt, making it look like it's stealing our art and selling it for profit.
In reality, it's worse- PayPoster screws over both creator and consumer.
Consumers lose money on posters they never actually receive (assuming the poster isn't "unavailable"), while artists are phished by the site when they attempt to file DMCAs to take down their art from the site.
The art acts as bait for both parties.
Naturally, people have tried to shut it down, but it just refuses to die.
CopyCover is the same deal, but with phone covers.
How do I know?
Well for starters, they have my stuff, which I discovered to my dismay when I randomly googled my username(on the bright side, some of my old Undertale bead sprites were apparently shared through the appropriate channels on Pinterest.)
If you need proof of this, look at what pops up when you search my username, and notice how the titles not only contain "by Griffonmender", an obvious sign of being downloaded straight off of DA, but have the exact same titles I gave each piece: copycover.com/search?key=griffβ¦
Hilariously, not only did they fail to remove my signature off blank, white paper, but my signature actively screws over the previews, causing several images to display off-center.
Further, I also discovered in my search that at least one of my pieces is on PayPoster, which allowed me to discover that the two sites share the same design, the same koala logo next to their url, and the same koala mascot.
Yeah: either they're the same company, or someone out there decided to copy and steal from PayPoster for the ultimate ironic scam.
So, what should you do about this? Simple:
Here's a guide on how to spot an untrustworthy/sketchy art site- so you don't fall for the jerks who just straight up sell stolen art:

payposter.com/[[DON'T CLICK IT!]]UPDATE March 2, 2017: Okay so apparently there's been an uptick in activity on this journal and while I don't really have anything further to say I do ask that you read the whole journal before asking questions as I think a lot of questions are already answered within the context of this journal.
I know people are still panicking about this site but don't -- Just sign the petition and move on -- https://www.change.org/p/department-of-justice-shut-down-payposter-com
Don't file reports on it, don't go searching on it, just sign the petition and be done. The less revenue and traffic that PayPoster gets the better.

New Work on Newgrounds
πSee my latest piece, Smashed, over on Newgrounds: It's my submission for the Pokemon MysteryMeat Collab over there. You can also see future pieces- as well as better scans of my older work- over on my Newgrounds page. https://griffonmender.newgrounds.com I hope to see you there. ^ ^ ππππππππππππππ
This Sucks
I had to put my cat Neptune down on Monday. I now have a personal grudge against kidney disease. I'm ok, and the other cats are ok, but looking over at his favorite corner of my bed and seeing it empty... doesn't feel too great. I don't think it helps that this is now the third year in a row that one of the cats has died, and the second time due to chronic illness. I just miss my stripey boy. I'm making some progress on my work, but I need a little time.
The Game Plan and Updates
I will be prioritizing uploads on Newgrounds now- you can join me here: https://griffonmender.newgrounds.com (I'm also on Youtube, but not very often: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY1KTsmgfLXJwLLpq1OPa1Q) I'm not sure if I'm leaving DA or not yet. In the meantime, I had the excellent timing to purchase a year of core right before the whole AI debacle, so at the very least I have to hang out until it runs out, because I'm not going to get that money back. ^ ^; Even if I do ultimately shift fully onto Newgrounds, I will not be deleting this account, but will simply stop uploading anything to it other than announcements and leave it as an archive. But let's get back to the subject of uploads. After a long week of work, I have archived everything from my Deviantart Gallery. Not only will I be reuploading all of this to Newgrounds, but I will be giving many of these works some serious improvement. Since I always keep my originals, I will be rescanning much of my old work, resulting
New Scanner!
I got my first real art scanner recently, and have begun scanning some of my pieces. Scanning has been going great, but editing is taking awhile. As it turns out, better scanners are even better at finding all those strange microscopic specks that always turn up. ^ ^; However, progress is being made- and that means new uploads are coming (eventually).
