Troll Stamps 1 (Read Desc.)

For clarification, I am not referring to those stamps that are actually clever and amusing, like "Useless Cool Looking Stamp" or stamps with flashing lights that complain about stamps with flashing lights.
Those I have no problem with. (Nor, for that matter, any stamps featuring mythological, fantasy, or toy trolls.)




The ones I'm referring to here are of a nastier sort- the kind that are near indistinguishable from hate stamps, that insult and belittle others, and ultimately, fail to be funny at all.

An excellent example of this would be any stamp bearing some variant of "die cis scum"- it's *supposedly* just a joke, but no one is laughing, are they?
(No one I'd want to meet, anyway.)

However, I have seen troll stamps bearing phrases ranging from "if you have depression it means you're weak" to "if you wore slutty clothing you deserved to be rape" to, and this is the exact words, "retards should be aborted", with a description stating that their useless and a burden to society, AND ending with, and I quote:
"If the thing is going to be born with Down Syndrome or something like that, do the f****** a favour and abort it."

(Adding to this horror show is that's only three stamps from one person- there are not only more from this guy, but other sickos out there as well.)

Excuse me, but how is ANY of that spiteful garbage supposed to be funny? Because it's NOT.


Overall, there are three problems with this variety of hate stamp:

1: They're not funny. At all.
Unless you're the kind of person who finds telling other people to kill themselves amusing, it's doubtful that these stamps will bring a smile to your face.
They're far more likely, in fact, to turn that smile into a frown or scowl- and for good reason.
Telling people they should kill themselves, deserve to die, are horrible people because of something beyond their control, or similar things is not ok.
That kind of thing is generally considered bullying, harassment, hate speech or possibly some combination thereof, depending on the stamp, but none of those behaviors is acceptable.


2: They can hurt others.
As I have said, this variety of troll stamp is pretty much identical to an out and out hate stamp.
I'm sure we've all seen vicious hate stamps directed toward something we're part of before, and it's a pretty sucky feeling, whether you're sad, angry, or just exasperated with the immaturity of others.

It's especially distressing to see that a lot of these stamps are directed at things like cutting, depression, sexual abuse, and rape, because people who suffer from those conditions and/or experiences are at a significant risk for suicide, and the last thing they need is crud like this on top of all the actual hate stamps, hate art and hate comments already out there.


3:They are in violation of FAQ 12.
FAQ 12 is the part of Da's policy that defines hate speech, hate propaganda, and hate art:help.deviantart.com/12/

FAQ 12 considers hate speech to be "clearly racist or bigoted and often promotes genocide, or the killing or destruction of an identifiable individual, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or other specific group" and "can also promote the slavery or torture of an individual or group or it may advocate inflicting other conditions which would bring about the destruction of the group. "

All of the stamps I have mentioned fall under this definition, as do many other troll stamps of this variety.
Keep in mind, this not only makes these stamps cruel and in poor taste, but also a direct violation of site policy as well.




There are far better and less cruel ways to create comedy than this.
So please, before trying to be "funny" with your trolling, think before you type- sometimes what seems ok in the moment isn't really ok at all, and words CAN hurt.
Try making something that's truly hilarious instead of just mean-spirited-at the very least, you'll get less hate comments that way. ^ ^
